Liberal conservation. Westmont College is a liberal arts college tucked in the wooded hills of Montecito. Established in Los Angeles in 1937, Westmont relocated to its current location in 1945. When it came time for a campus-wide remodel, the school left no area behind: the remodel included new buildings, roads, sports facilities and creating a garden-like atmosphere. Our work centered on a theme of sustainability, which included landscaping with native plans, low-water-use irrigation and extensive green roofs on several buildings. The conservation didn't end there. We also relocated existing mature trees, and recycled or reused materials from all demolition that took place during the project.
