Home of the Walk of Western Stars

Newhall was once a favorite spot for Hollywood in the early 1900’s to come film their western themed movies.  Stars such as William S. Hart, Harey Carey, Gene Autry, Tom Mix, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans would spend their days filming at the local movie ranches, and their nights livening up the small town of Newhall.

 

The years passed, and the City of Santa Clarita created a plan for Newhall to return to its former glory.  Roads were re-aligned, parking and vehicular traffic areas turned into pedestrian friendly walkways, landscape planters, benches, pots, and interesting paving patterns were all added to bring excitement to the revitalized downtown.

 

The crowning achievement is the inclusion of the “Walk of Western Stars”, a “Walk of Fame” type installation, with bronze plaques set into the main street sidewalks, commemorating the Western film, stage, television, and radio personalities who performed in the Santa Clarita Valley.
